The Zoning District Map shows the number and various types of zoned districts within the Town of Oak Island. The map is created by the zoning ordinance, which determines the type, style, and amount of development that is allowed in each areas within the Town's enforceable jurisdiction.

Examples of zoning districts include: Residential, Commercial, Industrial, and Open Space. The Zoning District Map is provided to allow anyone to determine the zoning district of a specific parcel, just by observing where it is located in this map. The Unified Development Ordinance contains a table in Section 6.5; Table of Uses which codifies which land uses are permitted in each zoning district.
