Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) Services, is a division of the Administrative Department, and is under the direct authority of the Town Manager / Assistant Town Manager.
The division was launched in March of 2021, and serves the Town by providing aerial photography and video captured through the use of multiple Unmanned Aerial Systems, commonly referred to as "drones."
UAS assists multiple Town departments, including Public Works, Recreation, Public Utilities, Police, and Fire.
The division employs one full-time drone pilot, who is appropriately certified and credentialed, meeting or exceeding all FAA and North Carolina regulations.

The drone pilot maintains a FAA Part 107 Drone Pilot Certification, NCDOT Drone Operators Permit, and completed FAA Recurrent Training.
