Are you planning a special event and would like to use a public space, like a park or Beach Access Location? -- Then we need to know!
Hosting an organized community event using a public space in Oak Island requires a Special Event Permit. A permit provides Town staff and first responders with important information about your event, so that they can accommodate any support services or emergency response needs.
- NOTE: Small wedding ceremonies on the beach do NOT require a Special Event Permit permit; however, obtaining a permit is recommended, so that first responders can be aware of your group's location if emergency response is needed. There are two different permit applications, depending on the planned size of the event. Use the links below to download the one that best fits your needs:
- SMALL EVENTS: CLICK HERE to download a short-form application
- Small gatherings and private events, typically with less than 50 attendees, that will not utilize any Town infrastructure or services (buildings, restrooms, parking lots, etc.).
- Examples include beach parties, non-profit and educational events.
- MEDIUM & LARGE EVENTS: CLICK HERE to download a long-form application
- Larger gatherings which are open to the public and will require the use Town infrastructure (buildings, restrooms, parking lots) and services (traffic control, parking, emergency medical services).
- Examples include festivals, concerts, marathons, parades, etc.

NOTE: payment of permit fees (if applicable) will need to be mailed or delivered in-person. Applications can also be dropped off in-person at the Town Hall during regular business hours, or mailed to: Rose Braam, Administrative Support Specialist, Town of Oak Island, 4601 E.
